The worst thing by far is how sorry habitual substance abusers seem to feel for themselves and how they appear to act as if they had no choice because, well, they are addicts and addiction is a severe physical and psychological state. So tells us the television and the movies, the people you meet ('Did you hear about David? He took a sleeping and calming pill and now he's HOOKED, OH MY how TERRIBLE') and most of all your shitty junkie friends ('Man getting of the barbiturates was, like, the worst withdrawal ever, this meth I'm snorting 's nothing'). Bullshit.
It's a fucking LEARNING DYSFUNCTION.
You inhale stimulants which get you high which inevitably follows with a crash of various levels when you are decidedly low. To me there are two kinds of people, those who understand this and those who don't. The latter often become substance abusers of the sort who feel they have somehow lost voluntary control of their actions and continue their make believe habit. Yes, quitting a substance will cause unpleasant effects which is infact why most people will not pick up a habit that will cause excessive unpleasantness if you try to discontinue it. And it's still your OWN FUCKING CHOICE not to feel unpleasant for some days and leave it behind you.
I was read a quote yesterday:
"So you understand this addiction is between your ears,
and admit nobody is forcing you into this habit you seek are
seeking a way out of?"
"- Yes"
"How has this understanding helped you, this far?"
and admit nobody is forcing you into this habit you seek are
seeking a way out of?"
"- Yes"
"How has this understanding helped you, this far?"
